Challenge

The potential use cases tokenization presents are still greatly underdeveloped and relatively unknown, giving Smart Token Labs the monumental task of educating developers and driving adoption. Additionally, Alphawallet’s list of features–integrated web3 dapp browser, smart token categorization, ENS name management, wallet-watching, the ability to send and receive via MagicLink and more–meant the Smart Token Labs team needed to protect their engineering hours. 

“It's a major hassle to keep RPC nodes up and running, especially as we support over 30+ chains,” noted Hwee-Boon Yar, Lead Product Engineer at Smart Token Labs.

The company sought a node infrastructure partner to take care of the infrastructure, so they could focus on scaling.

Solution

"We use Infura as our go-to production Ethereum node provider for both mainnets and testnets in our AlphaWallet iOS and Android apps,” said Hwee-Boon Yar.

This includes detecting token transfers and other events, estimating gas, posting transactions, fetching token balances and more. The Smart Token Labs team chose Infura because it checked all the boxes for latency, uptime, reliability, burst throughput, and cost.

"In the earlier days, we tried to get our own node running and quickly gave up,” explained Hwee-Boon Yar. “We also tried other external solutions, but they weren't reliable. Infura helped us scale quickly and drive business and product use cases quickly.”

Today Smart Token Labs utilizes Infura for all of our major products, solutions and campaign launches. Hwee-Boon Yar also credits Infura’s support team with solving their issues quickly and reliably.
