Making it easier to ensure solid UX and uptime for DeFi apps with Infura

Executive Summary

Optimal Trade Execution (OTEX) is a solution for DeFi dapps to build powerful UX. OTEX ensures DeFi trading protocols’ trades are serviced correctly and users receive the best rates, while blocking malicious systems. OTEX was introduced as the first external solver at CoW protocol in May 2022 and has been using Infura to run their node service ever since.

Challenges

From the beginning, the OTEX team knew they wanted to focus engineering hours on where it mattered most: creating the fastest, most reliable solution available for DeFi protocols.

As their reputation and connections grew throughout the DeFi ecosystem, integrating with 1Inch Fusion and becoming multi-protocol, OTEX has doubled-down on their strategy to outsource more of their infrastructure needs.

Solution

As they were building the first version of their solver for the CoW protocol, OTEX used Infura to fetch on-chain data, and as their success grew, so did their uses of Infura’s suite of high availability APIs.

In early 2023, OTEX celebrated one year as CoW’s top solver, servicing an impressive 30-40% of all protocol transactions. Fueyo credits Infura’s uptime, latency, burst throughput, and reliability as a contributor to their success and ability to scale.

“We have not had a day in which we could not count on our Infura node to perform our operations on-chain,” said Fueyo.

To-date, OTEX has routed and settled more than 2 billion USD worth of digital assets and recently announced plans to go multi-chain in 2023, expanding their offerings to DeFi protocols on Polygon and BNB.
